Description

Nalbari College was established in the year 1945 and was affiliated to the Calcutta University. After the establishment of the Gauhati University in 1948 it came under this University. It is one of the oldest and largest colleges in Assam. n This is an institution of higher learning was a long – cherished dream of the people of Nalbari. The dream became a reality on 4th July 1945, when Nalbari College was founded, more than two years before our country attained independence. In the mean time Nalbari College has completed more that half a century of its glorious life and undergone a lot of expansion and changes. One significance change was the introduction of science stream in 1958. Now the College has 15 full –fledged departments and imparts teaching 14 major subjects at degree level. Besides PG classes in Assamese affiliated to Gauhati University, have been introduced in the College. Moreover the consistently good academic performances have raised Nalbari College to premier institution of higher learning which has contributed remarkably towards the educational and cultural prosperity of the state.
